Dr. Peter Mvula

Dr. Peter Mvula is a Senior Research Fellow in Rural Livelihoods at the Centre for Social Research. He has a PhD in Rural Development with particular bias on rural livelihoods from the University of East Anglia, UK obtained in 2002. He is also a gender analyst and trainer. Dr. Mvula has done research and published in the fields of rural livelihoods, nutritional status of rural communities, food security, safety nets and rural livelihoods, health related issues, and poverty analysis. His current research interests include rural livelihoods and poverty, the use of common pool resources and impact of climate change on the two. In all research areas he takes into account issues of gender, HIV and AIDS.

 

Dr. Mvula has also been involved in several international research consortia such as: Well-being among Fisherfolks in Africa Research (WELFARE) coordinated byChr. Michelsen Institute, Norway;Cross Sectoral Commons Governance in Southern Africa (CROSCOG) coordinated by the Institute for Fisheries Management (IFM), Denmark; Norway and Defragmenting African Resource Management (DARMA), coordinated by PLASS, South Africa.
